TV Style puppetry workshop in the Boston area Posted by Onath on Sep 14, 2010
Hey everyone,

I know many of you will not be able to get to this due to location.

But, I'm teaching a 1.5 hour beginner puppetry workshop in the TV style on Sept 25th at The Brookline Puppet Showplace Theater. It is just $5 to attend the class.

No previous puppetry experience is needed for the class. We will provide the puppets, the camera equipment, and all the personal instruction.

The class will be filled with lots of hands on puppeteering experience.

Some of the things the class will focus on:
-Setting up a camera and monitor
-Proper puppeteering stance
-Eye focus
-Lip-synch
-Working with a monitor
-Acting with puppets
-And much more!

There are only 30 spots available for the class. So, sign up now before it sells out.

 Details:
Puppet Showplace Theatre is kicking off its PuppetSLAM season with a special screening of "Handmade Puppet Dreams", a touring festival of short puppet films, selected and curated by Heather Henson. The screening will be preceded by a one-of-a-kind, puppets-on-video workshop led by local puppeteer Jonathan Little of Little's Creatures.

"Handmade Puppet Dreams" is an eclectic collection produced by independent, contemporary artisans — films from a new generation of puppeteers who embrace the medium in expressing their art. The screening is sure to be the perfect introduction (or refresher) to the art of puppets on film.

Jonathan Little of Little's Creatures will lead a one-and-a-half hour workshop on do-it-yourself video puppetry and the basics of performing for video, including monitor technique.

The workshop is from 6pm - 7:30pm. Workshop fee is $5. "Handmade Puppet Dreams" begins at 8pm. Tickets are $12. Attend both and save! Combination workshop/screening tickets are just $15!

A) Video Puppetry Workshop (6:00 - 7:30)
   $5.00
B) Handmade Puppet Dreams Screening (8:00 - 10:00)
   $12.00
C) BOTH - Screening and Workshop (save $2)
   $15.00

That is a fantastic price!  You should for sure try to attend sunbeatle.  Always good to network with other puppeteers in person also.

Oh now I really wish I'd emmigrated to Boston! I miss the place!
I've seen Heathers film series at Puppet Rampage in 2007 and it was great. Don't know if its still part of the same collection but TooLoudASolitude was just amazing to look at. I think they finally finished it now. Heather is a sweetie too very nice and approachable.
