Here's some pictures of the fairy tale character puppets I made. Posted by PreschoolPuppets on Sep 17, 2010
Here are some puppets I made for a senior project in college. I got them out again for my kids and we put on a puppet show. I’m glad I get the chance to play with them again with my preschoolers.

Here is a picture of the princess with her ball by the well.

This is a picture of the frog sitting on top of the well.

This is a close up of the frog puppet. Here is really a prince. Can you see the lace on his neck?

Here is a picture of the well prop. I made it from a plastic tub for margarine or something like that. It is painted to look like a well in a garden. There is a hole in the middle for the frog to peek out of and the ball to fall down into the well.

This is the king puppet. He is dressed in gold and mauve.

This is the princess puppet. She has a pink and gold dress and a little bit of mauve on her headpiece.

This is the maid puppet. She works in the palace.

Here is the handsome prince, who was once the frog.

I made these puppet heads from a clay model base with paper-mâché and paint.  I then made the cloth hand puppets and costumes.

I LOVE the puppets!  The well is awesome too - how fun to have the ball be able to fall inside and the frog pop out of the well.  I am sure the kids loved it!!

They were fun to make.  The well has a bigger hole in the bottom so you can put your whole hand in to push the ball back up.  I didn't have to do that in the video because I just stopped the camera but when you use a puppet stage you can tape the well to the stage use the stick for the frog and your hand for the ball.

I made the puppet heads from a clay model for the faces and used tissue and glue to make the paper-mâché.  When they dried I then had to cut them in half to get them off of the mold, scraped out the clay and patched the two halves together with more paper-mâché.  I then painted them and glued them to a full cloth puppet inside of them so I wouldn't get the dried clay under my finger nails when I used them.

They've held up pretty well, 20 some years in a box.  I was a little nervous letting the kids play with them but they are being gentle with them.
