Artist in Residency Posted by LJ on Sep 20, 2010
Today I start a week long Artist in Residency at an elementary school - I am a bit nervous (understatement) since this is the first undertaking of this magnitude!! I hope everything turns out ok - this is for K-8th grade!  That's a lot of puppets to make and the 5th and 8th graders will be working with me every day and will perform at the end of the week!  I will hope to post pictures!

Wow, that sounds like it would be great.  Did the school fund it?  That would be even greater!  What fun you'll have!

Did the school fund it?
Actually when a school hires an approved artist for an artist in residency they can apply for a grant from the Iowa Arts Council to pay for half of the total cost and the school pays the other half.  Works out good!! So I am being paid by the school and the arts council.

Wow it looks like you included all puppetry types! How very cool. From the pictures, it looks like the kids are really enjoying it.

Yes, they all look like they are having so much fun.  Love the kid with the marionette blue ghost looking puppet.  How did they make those faces?   Are those stickers?

Oh, and I LOVE the rainbow hand prints!!!  I just love doing art projects with kids and these pictures really make me smile.  My favorite thing is when a child "does his own thing" and it turns out great.  Keep the pictures coming.  Oh and what show are they doing?  It looks like more than one maybe?
