Well folks - we did it!!!  The kids were AWESOME and the performance went better than I could have hoped. A few moms had tears in their eyes, one of the teachers said it was the best Artist in the Classroom assembly they had every had, I got lots of hugs (worth about $1000.00 each I'd say!!) The kids told me they didn't want the week to end! Here are a few more pictures but there are more in my gallery.  The 5th graders did a story called "It's a Wonderful Life" (a Jewish folktale), the 8th graders did a Burmese folktale called "The Tall Tales" and then they did the song "What a Wonderful World" to close the program! (thus the tears! - why do you think I chose to end with that song!!!!) Most of the other grades had their puppets on display in the gym as well.

Congratulations! What an enormous work!!! All that in ONE week? And all that different types of puppets, I loved them. And the workshop room, I want one like that one!

Thanks Titere, it was a huge project but the kids were great!  My two performance groups practiced for the first time 40 minutes before the program and still it turned out well!! I will hope to post a video soon. My base of operation was the art room at the school - the art teacher was SO accommodating!!

That looks GREAt!!! Those kids will nev er forget that. You should be proud. Im sure there are some future builders and puppeteers in that group. Thats what happened to me. I saw a puppet show from a group a couple of time in elementry school that was so inspirering I never forgt it. I ended up working with some of them later on a touring show and only by conversation did we discover it. These kids will always remember you.

Alsome job!!!
