Is this a puppet? Posted by Henry on Sep 25, 2010
Hi Puppet friends, recently we completed a Tall Ted music video for the up coming TV series Story Time. It has resulted in a heated debate on whether the egg who stars in the video is actually a puppet!

Please view the embedded video and give your opinon, is this egg a puppet?

I believe he is and his name is Humpty, but all my friends think I am mad!

Hmm... well this is going to be a hard egg to crack.

The egg is and inanimate object that is playing a role in a story that is then manipulated, so I say yes it is a puppet.

You should add a poll on this.

Yes - I say he's a puppet!

I may be new, but I don't think it's a puppet.  I think it's more of a prop.

whether its a puppet or not, its very cute but i agree with Gimpdiggity, seems like more of a prop to me

I would say it was a puppet, although it doesn't seem to match the Websters dictionary definition. Isn't there something called a proppet? Or is that something else entirely?

I would consider the egg to be a prop.

lets no whip the yoke to much on this. Any inanimate object made to move or take on a life like trate is a puppet performed by a puppeteer. The same could be said of the Obey hands are they puppets since they are just hands with plastic eyes. I say yes although they are not inanimate objects but the eyes are. Just my two cents. We'll crack this yet.... ok could not resist another egg joke hehehehehe

So, like the scrambled egg said... 'beats me'.

The egg has a face but for me it is more a prop with eyes and a mouth. A puppet moves and can do more than falling of a tower. A puppet can interact with somebody or to itself. If they used a ball the effect was the same. But when you asked me and you showed me a picture of this I would have said yes because a picture doesn't tell if it can move or not only how it looks like. So it looks like a puppet but doesn't work like that
