From the Cambridge Dictionary

puppet noun
 • a toy in the shape of a person or animal that you can move with strings or by putting your hand inside.

prop noun ( FILM/THEATRE )
an object used by the actors performing in a play or film
The set is minimal and the only props used in the show are a table, a chair and a glass of water.

I would say the the egg is a prop as the example from the cambridge dictionary says a glass of water is a prop, if the glass had a face printed on it and was pushed off the table it is still a prop. The egg with a face drawn on it is not manipulated in anyway only pushed off the tower.

My idea of a puppet is an inanimate object brought to life by the puppeteer/performer. The egg is not brought to life only unceremoniously pushed off the tower and left to ooze all over the set.

What came first the chicken or the egg?
A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette with a satisfied smile on its face. The egg, looking a bit ticked off, grabs the sheet, rolls over and says ... Well, I guess we finally answered "THAT question!"

Hopefully I have helped in some way as I wouldnt want anyone to "shell" out for a professional to give you an eggsact answer to the question.

Great response working.lights.  I may just have to change my vote to prop.

I vote PROP, but DrPuppet wins, hands down, for the best response.

A 21 Yoke salute to him.
