Do you ever come over to the UK?

Your puppet heads look great!  I can't wait to see them completed. The fairy is just too cute.

Aah thank you so much! here I go blushing again hihi! Wanna know something funny? The foam I used for the fairy head's inside, had to be quite thin, so I looked around every where but i couldn't find any foam thin ánd strong enough, so I almost gave up, but then I went to the supermarket and guess what?  to keep the grapes from damaging they used very thin foam!!! So I asked the manager if i could take some, and he gave me a bag full!! so my fairy really comes from nature's product!! So If you're heading to the super market keep you're eyes open for fairy heads in disguise hihihi

That is really cool!  I love the fact that you are so resourceful and recycle things to make your puppets.

Thank you! Its actually two sided, on one side i just don't have that much money, never had, and I think one can see that as a blessing to, because you really appreciate every little good thing that fate blows you're way, and make something out of anything {you would be amazed to see what i use for my dollhouse projects to!}  you find. And that also brings a lot of fun with it to,because the people around me often seem to be wondering why the heck i would be buying such a lot of old stuff {they might even think I'm a bit nuts hihi} and then I'm heading home with a big smile and a bunch of Al kinds of stuff that nobody wants anymore but that i absolutely treasure, feels like Christmas to me! hihi! , I can also relate to the people I want to play for most, that is the family's who want to give there children a great birthday for example, but just can not pay for entertainment, or even presents, these children are often so amazed, and so pure and innocent its magic to them, for there not used to big fancy stuff and computers and expensive toys, and that on its own is magic to me, and if they get the message in the story and the songs then i feel like its my own birthday hihihi there's just one little teenyweeny downside...... I'm bursting out of my house!!!!, Well guess saving up for a shed isn't such a bad idea hihi, and Al the more reason, to do much with {to others} worthless things!

Popping you some more puppet hugs! x Joyce

Welcome to this GREAT place! I know you will find all the answers for any question you have. I don't speak Dutch but all my grandparents and great-grandparents came to America from the Netherlands so I am 100% Dutch.  The town I live in has a yearly Tulip Festival where we celebrate our Dutch Heritage and wear Dutch costumes etc. We even celebrate Sinterklaas day.  Here are a couple pictures of how we incorporate puppetry into those celebrations!

Believe it or not our high school marching band marches in wooden shoes!! It is so fun to hear the wooden shoes coming down the street.  And we have dutch dancing in wooden shoes - we always wore several pair of socks and extra foam padding to protect from blisters.

Of course!!! My grandmother taught me how to make them so I bake them myself. I also make Poffertjes quite frequently.  I was raise eating saucijtes (I know the spelling is wrong) and balkenbrai (spelling also wrong) but my husband does not like either of those.
Our children always put their wooden shoes out the night before Sinterklaas day and then we open gifts on Sinterklaas day after having poffertjes for breakfast. The community celebration includes games, songs, a puppet show with Jan Klaassen and Katrijn and a visit from Sinterklaas and Piet. It is a fun day!
