Puppet Promotion on Facebook, Twitter and other Social Sites Posted by PreschoolPuppets on Oct 05, 2010
Hi everyone,
I was just doing some work on my preschool puppets blog and I've been tweeting to twitter and posting to my facebook page and I thought I'd give you all some tips on using social media for promoting your puppets and puppet shows.
Facebook is fast becoming one of the best places on the web to promote just about anything. If you aren't on Facebook already, it's a good idea to join and connect with friends, family, business associates and customers.
You can only have one Facebook Profile for yourself, but you can create multiple Facebook Pages to get the word out about your business, website, non-profit, group, club, etc.
It's also a good idea to have a separate Facebook page for your business instead of using your personal profile because your everyday friends may not appreciate hearing about your business on that consistent a basis. Plus you may not want to be friends with complete strangers but instead have a separate Facebook Page to share about your puppet business and build your brand.
Twitter is also a great place to share with others all about your puppets and other things that are happening in the puppet world. It's easy to use and the 140 character space limit keeps things quick and simple. Using both Twitter and Facebook to post updates helps to build backlinks and traffic to your website, youtube videos, etsy or ebay store.
Youtube is also great for sharing content about your puppets, puppet shows, tutorials, products, etc.
All these sites have both SEO (search engine optimization) benefits as well as direct traffic from the social aspect and interactions with real people. If you produce quality content which is informative and helpful that people like, they will come to know, like and trust you which can only enhance your puppet business.
When you are using these social sites it is a good idea to use keyword rich descriptions in your posts and profiles. Be sure to put a hyperlink to your websites or stores wherever you are permitted to do so. It's also a good idea to tweet or post stuff from other people's sites that you have found helpful or interesting. It helps contribute to the conversation and you never know who you will meet and make friends with and it adds to your good karma so to speak.
Here's my facebook, twitter and youtube pages for my preschool puppets blog, so you can follow or friend me.

Oh and not to forget, forums like this one are great for all the social and seo reasons stated above. Participate regularly and you will see your traffic and business grow.

Another thing to consider is Flickr. There are a lot of ways to promote yourself there. (Not just Flickr, but a number of photo hosting sites)

Great suggestions thanks!
I know a while back the lady from Hawaii had written a lovely piece on how to promote the things you'd made on etsy.. would anyone know where that went?
Now.. if someone could work out how to manufacture more time in my day I'll be a happy bunny

Yes, Flickr is another great site for promoting your photos of your puppets. Be sure to put a link in the description to your website where they can find the picture and more information about that picture or puppet.
Here's my flickr for an example.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm using Kickstarter to promote my new puppet project called "Puppet Power".
This is a DVD series that teaches viewers how to reuse objects like water bottles & juice boxes to make animal puppets, dinosaur puppets and bug puppets & friends. Please help support this project by donating or spreading the word. Thanks!
Here is the link so you can check it out on Kickstarter.
Best,
Michael
