The color red Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Nov 14, 2010
I need to buy some red dye to color some fabric for mouth plates........................ I usually just buy the fabric already dyed but this time I need to dye my own fabric. I bought some scarlet rit dye but think it may be to dark......................... can anyone suggest a true red color dye like fire engine red or something close. Might I mention that I am dying nylon.

Have you tested the scarlet on the nylon yet? It might be just right. Isn't there a Cherry red? I would think that would be a good candidate.
While you can dye nylon often with rite dyes this site suggest that you use Jacquard Acid Dyes.

I just ordered the scarlet dye and should get it this week but it got me thinking about the rit cherry red. I think jaquard has a more variety of reds than rit. I guess I'll just have dye some test swatches.
Thanks Shawn
