Yes, Shawn the ziptie fingers were on a giant parade style puppet.  Here is another photo.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  DSCN39390015
hand  It's also important to secure the line to a rig for extra pulling power.  The zip ties were sandwiched between two layers of 1" foam.  The plastic tubing serves as stops so the fingers will bend in between the tubes.  Zip ties come in much larger varieties, so I think this should work for what you need.

I hate to argue with you Jeezbo, but I'm not sure about the approach you describe. That sounds like as much (or more) work as the way the mech usually works. Although everyone of course has their own way of building,

Its not a problem, like you said, everyone has their own way of doing things, it was just another suggestion that has worked perfectly for the last five years for me, i have made many of these and it has also stood up to the test of time, it was just as easy as everyone elses methods, pretty much the same infact, it just sounded complicated!!

I have read the book 'how to Audrey II' and it is very insightful, but not necessarily needed, also, its sometimes better to figure things out as you go being a puppet builder, because you find way of doing things that people don't always think about, after all, this is why we come to P&S, to ask questions and share our info!!

Anyway, i hope our chat on the phone wasn't too much last night Tom, I'm sure you are well on your way to making some masterpieces, also i have just got back from my workshop and it seems that the little shop of horrors set and puppets haven't been brought up to notts yet, so I'm going to venture back to plymouth in two weeks with a van and bring it all up here!!

Ben.

cool I will have to cross the border (passport ready they dont like us natives to leave Norfolk) and have a look at your stuff. Lunch will be on me, steak and chips mmmmmmm unless you are a vegetarian in which case I will bring you an iceberg.
Re: Audrey II Posted by Shawn on Nov 25, 2010
So you are both from the UK but you have to have a Passport to see each other?!

P.S. Just because I was curious, I looked up both places on Google Maps.  Is this right? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Norfolk,+United+Kingdom&daddr=Plymouth,+United+Kingdom&hl=en&geocode=FVHTIgMdgoYNACnf1R5siqnQRzEfEoxq8ch5NQ%3BFUyXAAMdw8nA_yk96pUOU41sSDGThfXOtSwoOw&mra=pd&mrcr=0&sll=53.014783,0.263672&sspn=9.446384,19.753418&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=7

Bless, it is a UK joke I dont really need a passport its just us Norfolk inhabitants are a bit simple with our tactors, 6 fingers and webbed toes. They dont let us out much and other counties dont let us in I'm sure you have something similar is the US?
Re: Audrey II Posted by Shawn on Nov 25, 2010
Ahh.... Ok I see.  So Norfolk "folks"  are kind of like our hillbilly's here in the US.
Re: Audrey II Posted by jeezbo on Nov 26, 2010
Norfolk isnt that bad at all, its the people from nottingham that you need to watch out for, there is as much gun crime here as there is in the getto of america!!! ive sent you a reply to the pig question, hope you get it, cos i think i sent it, but cant find it in my outbox!!
Re: Audrey II Posted by working.lights on Nov 26, 2010
Yeah Norfolk Hillbillies, thanks jeezbo for message. Got foam today and fabric for Audry II. Unfortunately my local fabric shop had no bright yellow npolar fleece so Audrey II is going to be purple with cerise pink detailing and possibly a purple furry tongue (still deciding on this) The leaves and stem will be dark bottle green fleece with parrot/lime green detailing. Looking at spray adhesive my local hardware store wanted £10/can my local foam supplier £2.50/cam for the same stuff how do they justify this? Ok rant over. planning to start the head today I think I have got my foam template sorted after lots of paper cuts. I will take and post photos of Audrey II as she grows from seedling and if the template produces the shape I want I will make a jpg of this available. I will not be posting images of the template on the forum but if any member wants it email/message me and I will forward this on.
