Newbie in UK... Posted by BigBadgers2001 on Dec 01, 2010
Hello everyone. I thought it best I say hello before I start to lurk around looking for information.
I am Ken, aged 38, (though mentally I am 12), and live near Warrington in England with my Wife and Children. I have been a keen model builder all my life and have loved all things Puppet and Muppet since I was a wee laddie. I have just begun to make my very own Mr Punch from scratch. I have a number of differing designs in my note pads, all over the place, and I aim to start many puppet projects, going up in difficulty to a full size Vent Dummy with working mouth, eyes, eyebrows etc...
I can not to finish this first project so I can get started on the next. My wife and kids think I have serious issues as I am always mixing concoctions of Toilet tissue and PVA glue in the blender. Lol.
Any how, hello to you all and thank you for allowing me to join the forums.
Ken.

Welcome Ken!! Sounds like you have a very FUN house!! I always say you can tell how creative someone is by how "messy" their house it. The messier the more creative - so all your concoctions just prove your creativity! We can't wait to see pictures!!

Hey Ken,
Glad you've joined us here. I thought having the mentality of a 12 yr old was required for puppetry. LOL I used to wonder if I'd ever grow up, but now I'm glad to be part of the forever young. Michelle http://www.mermibridg.co.uk/ is a member here, she might have some things you'd be interested in. Again, we're glad you joined us and yes, we do love to see pictures of the puppets.

Hello,
Welcome, I am a puppet maker in the Uk. Good to see your making Mr.Punch and keeping up the tradition, would be interested to see this when it is done as I am also a Punch & Judy performer.
You will get lots of great info here.
Cheers,
Daniel

Welcome to PandS! Yes indeed it seems as if the Brits are taking over. That is ok we don't mind at all. Actually the hosting service that I use for the site is now owned by a British company.

Thank you so much to everyone for the lovely warm welcome. I am pleased to discover that my mental abnormalities are quite common and I am not so different after all. lol. Thanks again.

Hi Ken,
I too am based in the UK, Norfolk. Any thing I can help with I will try. Currently my puppet stuff is in my workshop, spare room, dining room, living room, other spare room and even a few bits in my car. My other half keeps going on at me to tidy it up as it is everywhere but I point out its not in the kitchen, toilet or bedroom. Dont ever say this as I am still in the dog house over this comment.
