so when ever i  sew a mouth in using the locking whip stitch i flip it rightside out when im done and i can see the little red threads..no matter how small i seem to make the stitch there alaways some stitches showing? got any tips, should i use a different stitch? 

On a practice mouth..................... try the ladder stitch and see if it makes a difference.

You might also try using a thread color that matches the skin tone.  I am assuming of course that you are seeing the thread on your flesh fabric. If I have things right in my head the red fabric of your mouth is actually covered by the flesh fabric when you flip it so it you wont see the flesh thread on it.

You can buy clear thread also.

Another tip could be to use a normal whipstitch. If they are pulled snug but not tight enough to change the shape and size of the mouth the stitches shouldn't be visible. =]

thanks shawn i think ill try that, as well as use the tip that april gave me as well. i dont know what i did this last time but MAN it turned out wrong! i think its because its a new pattern for me and because i got alittle rusty since i havent really built one since halloween.

hey april, you said that you used more foam around the mouth and foam to make the bottom jaw of your puppet...do you think you can send me a rough sketch of what you did with the foam? that would be wonderful! thanks nall
