Re: New puppet build Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Feb 06, 2011
Here are some update pictures.............. still need to do some touch ups here and there and he will be ready. I tried something new well it was new for me. When I did the arm rods I enclosed inside each hand a tube with hex computer screw inside. I then made threads on the end of a wire rod and screwed the other hex screw on the end of each rod. The rods can be attached real easy. I also attached the body tube to the mouth plate this allows a smooth feel inside the puppet, no bare foam. I really like the feel of the mouth assembly on the hand real snug and comfortable. He has wired hands and the arms are connected with doll joints so they turn all the way around. I could almost keep this guy for myself.

Nice work Billy! So when are you going to make a puppet out of that cool green tiger fabric and the orange boa?

Shawn I have not built anything in so long I thought I had forgotten how. It has been a long journey with my Moms rehabilitation since her fall and stroke but she is doing good. I got her back on a sewing machine this past week, I still have to thread the machine a half a dozen times or more but I'm happy to see her busy again. I'm feeling more comfortable about leaving her alone long enough for me to work out in my building. I'm not one to just make puppets for no reason... i feel like it is a waste of supplies................... but to answer your question I have some unfinished projects I need to finish. One being from our little experiment a couple of years ago with the pear shape head. I have never been one to take pictures of my work but will start doing that more. I'm adding some new eye kits to my store like monster eye kits..... just got some red silk thread that can be used for veins. I want to re-invent the birthday cake I made a few years back. So i have a lot to do just got to find the time to do it. Thanks for fixing the pictures. The puppet looks kind of bare with out eyes but the client is going to finish it.

That tigerstripe fabric is killer!!

Looks good Billy, sounds like we've both started back up around the same time.. Only last week did I start rescheduling life to make some time and dust things off, re-organize, etc..

I haven't been on the site in quite some time.  I'm so sorry to learn of your mom's illness Billy. I pray for her full recovery.  What a wonderful son.  She raised you well.

Loved your puppet Billy.  I have a question what are hex computer screws?  I'm interested in trying this.

They are standoff Brass Studs used in computer mother boards. You can get them at computer stores or Radio Shack.
