Attention Puppet-Builders Posted by Mitchiez on Feb 05, 2011
About a month ago, I posted a topic on how to make a Gingy (Gingerbread Man) puppet, and with very helpful information... my puppet turned out very badly, and was not successful at all. After browsing the works of very professional and high quality puppet makers on this site, I have become interested in making a request?

I would like to know if somebody can make me a replica, or pretty close to it, of the Gingy puppet used in the show. Then you would make a price deal, and I will pay you for the puppet with shipping and handling. This is very important, and I know that a lot of professionals here can make a high quality identical Gingy for me because I really need one.

This is the original post I made, in December: http://puppetsandstuff.com/community/index.php/topic,6069.0.html
Here are some videos of the puppet, which I need to be identical:

Please reply, or message me if you are interested, so we can work out the important details! Thank you, so much.  =)

Post some pics of your creation, maybe everyone here can help you out with the parts you had difficulty in or require extra assistance??

There's plenty of qualified builders around the site to build a Gingy, but many will also not sell what's considered a replica so keep that in mind.
Re: Attention Puppet-Builders Posted by Mitchiez on Feb 05, 2011
It doesn't have to be an exact replica, but I am looking for a good looking, puppet-working puppet of Gingy. I have discarded mine, in shame of it being terrible. It wasn't even a puppet... it was a poorly made peice of foam, terribly covered in fabric with awful details.

I'm really looking for someone who can make one for me. I've attempted it before with all the help and information I've got here, and I rather a professional sell one to me. =]

It looks like it would be pretty easy to make. What size are you wanting? I'm sure we could walk you thur making one. Don't give up on yourself so fast, I'm sure you can do it with the right tools. First you need a plan like what height width etc. will you be using a metal or plastic cookie pan......... things like that.
If you insist on someone else making it for you what is your budget?
Re: Attention Puppet-Builders Posted by Mitchiez on Feb 05, 2011
Budget? Well, I much rather see how much the project would cost you to make one, and how much the materials would cost. And then also the time and work you have to do. Something reasonable, but well worth it for the price. I don't really have a budget in mind... but I'm aware that it won't be cheap. We could defiantly work something out. As for the size, I would like it to be the same size as the one used in the production. I don't need a pan. You can get a general idea of the size by watching the videos, when it's used by the puppeteers. Here are some pictures:

Well I've actually now seen the "real" puppet since I just worked the tour show about a month ago. He is just a piece of foam with the mouth cut out (in the open position) and then covered in the fabric. It is one piece of fabric that is stretched across and around to the back and more then likely was spray glued on. The details are foam cut outs that have been covered in a latex skin. Tool dip could be used for this although not sure if that is what was used on the original.  I think there is actually more then one of the puppets in the show because I don't remember seeing the bend or depression at the knees.  It could also be that they re-designed the puppet some for the tour show which is not all that unusual. I did not get a real close look at the back of the puppet and the mouth set up from there but I belive he had finger tubes. If I had to guess on how that would be done or do it myself I would have cut small holes in the foam itself above and below the mouth and then inserted fabric tubes into that. For something similar, I've cut slits above and below the mouth and then lined them with a fabric "pocket".

The recipe is so simple, that I think about making my own ginger bread. It seems to be not expensive baking. So It will be my fist not wooden puppet

Is this something you could make with the tools and matirels you have? Would you be interested?

No I am afraid that I am one of those builders that won't do replica's.   Also my schedule is pretty heavy right now.  I posted what I did hoping to give other builders insight if they wanted to give a try.

Darn. Is anyone else interested? I really need this Gingy puppet. I'm like, so passionate about it.
