Do the hands the same way. Remember the lighter you can keep everything the better. If something needs a bit of weight to hang right (like a hand) you can add just a bit with something like lead fishing weights or washers.

I've always used the weight method for eyes. I think it is more reliable then a spring since a spring can give out or pop but there is a draw back. Depending on the position of the head the eyes may close on you. Remember the dolls you could lay down and the eyes closed? Same thing here. Normally it is not a big issue.  I would suggest that if you do use a spring that you leave an easy access to it for replacement purposes.
