Better late than... Posted by Puppetainer on Apr 03, 2011
Hello all! I actually signed up at this forum about a year ago but never posted or really even checked back in until this last week. A special thanks to Julie at Out of the Box Puppets for reminding me about P&S! I've been hanging out at Muppet Central Forum and for some reason just never made my way back here. Could be because I lost my job about the time I originally signed up. In any case I thought I'd pop in here and FINALLY introduce myself.
Like most everyone here I've loved puppetry all my life. It's in the last 8 or 9 years that I really started to think about finding a way to make it my profession. In that time I've voraciously scoured the internet for ANYTHING I could find on puppet building and performing. I once flew to California to audition to be a puppeteer at Disneyland (I live in Wisconsin) and last January I was lucky enough to attend Steve Whitmire's lecture and class at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. It's been an awesome ride and I can tell you that with each step I've taken towards puppetry I've had the unmistakable sensation that I'm headed where I really belong.
I took the opportunity of my sudden unemployment last April to really start to push forward with my passion for puppetry. I've worked at my puppet building and performing skills quite a bit over the last year and feel I've made some good progress. Now as my unemployment is set to run out it's time to see if I can actually make any money in the field I love so much. I'm going to try and tip toe out there and sell some of my creations. I mean I'm going to bound boldly onto the scene and make a huge splash in the world of puppets!!
In any case this is my official "hello". I'm excited to be here amongst all my fellow puppet people! It's so great to have a place where I can connect with so many other puppet enthusiasts from all over the world! It's a great time to be a puppeteer!

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I look forward to sharing our puppeting adventures! I've found the puppeting community to be a warm and welcoming group and after spending several hours reading MANY of the posts throughout the Puppets and Stuff forums I can see that custom is continued here. I'm excited to be a part of the Puppets and Stuff family!
