By the way, I went to my doctor and he prescribed me Zoloft. I'm afraid to take it though since prozac didn't work well for me.
Oh well, I guess it's worth a try.

Make sure keep your prescriptions out of reach of your puppets. It may me hard to explain at the Emergency room LOL

The two meds work differently so I would give it a try and remember that it usually takes a couple weeks before you will know if it works well for you. Don't give up after a couple days unless there is a significant reason to. Hang in there! Just because one med didn't work doesn't mean another won't. And each person is different so you have to give your own body a chance to test it out. We are pulling for you!!

True. Normally it takes about 2 weeks before it "really hits". I had to try several meds before we arrived at the right one. Don't give up and keep us informed, k? Take care and best wishes!

This thread is really interesting. Aaron, I'm sorry for your sadness, I hope you feel better soon, I really do.
What I'm finding again and again is that I always feel that everyone else has it all together and their life is full and fulfilling and mine isn't. Then I'm reminded again by honest people that we all struggle in this life.
This past two years have been, and continue to be, agony for me, this is the worst time I've ever been through. I've lost so much, and I will never get it back again. But in this painful place I've found so much creativity within myself. People have loved me and supported me during my deepest depression.
Here at P and S I've found kind and helpful people that encourage each other.
Another thing I've found is that you have to look for 'treasure' in these dark places. (I read somewhere in Ps. that God gives us treasure in the dark places). It would be sad to go through so much sadness and not have anything good to show for it.... my treasure is my doll and puppet making and the ministry that was birthed from it. God really does give beauty for ashes...

Thanks Rosie, that was very touching. Yes, I do feel that quite often myself. A bit like the aesopian fable of the frog in the milk- but you have to keep struggeling all though the night to get a lump of butter to jump out from. And sometimes this night does seem long. Having people to share with makes it a lot easier.
But well: there IS a gift for any hinderance. And since being creative is such a great gift I guess I have to pay back with my share of depression. Good to know that I am not alone, though.

I think you will find that there are a LOT who suffer from depression - in fact studies have shown that creative people tend to struggle with depression more than others. I agree with Rosie God will give treasure out of the dark places - in fact a diamond is simply a lump of coal that has withstood PRESSURE for 100's of years! In church and Sunday School yesterday we talked about how with no trials there is no growth. Just like a tree needs the wind to blow against it to make the roots go deep, the struggles are what actually make us strong. Now I don't know anyone who actually enjoys those struggles but I guess it is good to remember that there can be growth out of them. We all like it easy but even in school easy doesn't make us good students - learning the difficult stuff does. Just remember that you are NOT alone!
