Hello!! Posted by janinelee on Apr 13, 2011
New to Puppets and Stuff, but not new to puppetry.  Our team is working on doing a compelte blacklight show. We have done one or two blacklight songs at the end of our shows, but have not done a complete blacklight show.  I am looking for ideas and tips.  I am ready to hear everyone's input!! Can't wait to meet each of you!!

Welcome! My puppet team has done a black-light song after our skit for the past 6 months but we have never done a whole production in blacklight. Have fun! and keep us posted! There are a lot of experienced folks here!!

Welcome! If you haven't already gotten into contact with Julie at Out of the Box I would certainly recommend that you do. They specialize in black light puppetry and I'm sure she could be of some help! Hope you find what you're looking for and again welcome to Puppets and Stuff!

Puppetainer, we have bought some materials from Out of The Box.  Met them at a festival in South Mississippi a year ago where John Coen and his team performed and inspired us to do a complete puppet show.  We have gotten both his videos on blacklight.  I think our biggest problem is not having time to create everything we need, it is extremely time consumming, but we are pushing on.  When we do our next program I will have someone video our blacklight and post it.  We use pvc pipes painted with wildfire optical white as a stickman (an idea we got from Calvary Baptist in Batesville, MS).  He breaks apart into different objects throughout the song.  The song we use is "The Best is Yet to Come" by Scott Kripayne.

First may I say I LOVE BLACK LIGHT!!!

We do a full blacklight show each year in October, usually 4 songs.  It's a blast but TONS of work.  I don't know what you'd like to know but I'll help if I can.  I will say that in my experience the hardest work is in the transitions.  Keeping everything flowing, but not glowing when it isn't supposed to! LOL

Let me know if you want to ask anything.  I'm not as experienced as some of the others, but I can tell you what we've been through.  Feel free to ask.
