My first Rod Puppet Posted by Rcdspoon on Apr 17, 2011
Hey everybody,

I know it has been a while since I have posted. However, I thought I would post my new rod puppet.  I love puppetry but l like to dabble in all areas of this awesome artform. I prefer hand mouth puppets the best but i really wanted to try a mechanized rod puppet. His name is Thurston: The Alien Bounty Hunter. He is a very simple rod puppet: Moveable arms with hand rods and swivel head control.  No mouth movement on this version... maybe next time!!!

I plan on using him for a series of parody space videos that i have been wanting to do.
I will try to update this thread as I get closer to completing the first video. Hopefully I will have the cast for the next update.

Please as always let me know what you think... If you have any questions please let me know.

Sincerely,

Spoon.

Very cool!  I love him!

It looks like the fingers may be pose able... am I right?  How did you make them?

Great job! I Love how you have acquired your own technique and style of puppet building.

Thanks guys... Shawn to answer your question: The fingers are posable, I just used wire covered in masking tape then to reinforce the hand I modge podge the palm and back of the hand... then painted it. We will see if it holds together or not... i have never tried this technique before.
