Puppet Music Video Posted by Lmader45 on Apr 18, 2011
Hi guys. I'm new here and got my first 2 puppets in March. Around 50cm hand rod puppets (? - not sure of the exact type they are called). I made the below film clip for a mates band using the 2 puppets utilizing green screens. Had no idea what I was in for when I started making the clip as I'd only used the puppets for around an hour before making this video. Had to write, film, direct, puppeteer and edit the video myself on a budget of $40 with no monitor. Took quite a while and definitely have a lot more respect for pupeteers after this project.

Just a warning as well. The film clip contains rude language (it was for an Australian punk/ska band). But I figure the title will give that away.

Any feedback on things I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated in the future as working with puppets isn't easier but far more convenient then working with actors.

Thank you

Okay, for me the language is a bit "Mad Max" (about the hardest to understand!), but I LOOOOVE it. This is something I'd like to do (and I'd cpmliment myself if I would get it half as good as yours!). You made this with 2 puppets?

As long as youre having fun, go for it..but yes,...the language would be a hard sell. Tone it down and your audience and potential fanbase only grows.

Good music!

I am really impress with the work and some of the effects with your work....I think you pulled it off very well...I would say a feedback monitor would really help u with that...if you have a plug in with your camera for video output then you can just buy a portable dvd player (maybe $60-$100)with a video input jack to help you focus your puppets eyes...I like how you got around some of the issues with the puppet to make them do what you want them to do....your mates should be proud and honoured of the work you did....keep it up you only get better as you go.
