Fluorescent White Posted by GodSquad on Apr 19, 2011
Does any one know of a white poster board that is fluorescent?  I need to make 96 raindrops and don't want to have to paint every one?  Thanks

I recommend testing it if you have a small black light flashlight, if not, buy a sheet and take it home and check it you can always return it and it's not that expensive.  I can sort of tell if something white will glow if it has a blueish tint.  Not really sure how to describe it.

I agree with Angel.  Your best bet is to take an handheld blacklight with you.  Sometimes brands change or even preparation and things do glow the next time.  How are you using the raindrops?  Have you thought about taking a black piece of poster board and cutting out rain drop shaped holes.  Lay it over a white poster board then you'd have multiple raindrops that show through the black.  Just a thought

MPGrace, that's a great idea.  We are placing three drops on one side of a stick and two on the other (alternating) and then the puppeteers will twist the stick back and forth to create movement.

I don't have a hand-held blacklight at this time.  But, I've found that the white foam sheets flourese and plan to back them with black poster board then brush on some highlights.

Thanks both of you for your replies.

This is my favorite hand held blacklight. http://www.amazon.com/Chauvet-NV-F4-Handheld-Blacklight/dp/B0002FDKSC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303319294&sr=8-1

Sounds like you'll have a great production!

Thanks for the link - it's the same one I used to have but for a 1/3 of the price I paid.  I'll have to get another one for next year's production.

I think we'll have a great production, too!  Our Team is pretty amazing (if I do say so myself.)  If you get a chance you can look at one of our songs from last year that we revamped.  I made all of the the signs.

I watched your video.  Great job!  I like the fact that your signs had a variety of lettering.  Keep it up!

I wish I had some video of our black light songs.  I know we took them but not sure where they went!

Yeah - getting black light video is a pain.  You probably couldn't even see all of the effects and props because of the taping problems.  We usually video all of our shows which are a variety of regular light, black light, and dramas.  Without professional grade cameras and camera people, it's a difficult proposition.
Thanks for the complement.  I know that it's all God and He surely has amazed us at what this Team can accomplish.  This is our 13th year and some of the kids stay with it through high school.  We've even had a few come back after college and help with props and staging, etc.
