I will actually be doing an inner part of the mold called a core.. Then I will be able to make the skin.. The actual skin of the puppet will only be about 1/4 inch thick.
I will hopefully be able to do the core tomorrow.. So stay tuned!

Hey All!
Here is my first test skin.. I have opted for silicone for the mere fact that it lasts the longest. This is the skin right out of the mold, so it has to be patched (remove the mold seam line, etc).
I will be using this skin for a test to work out all of the bugs for the animatronics R&D.
Once all of the that is figured out, I will be doing the final skins..
I will be sure to update the whole process.

I have decided to make the skin out of foam latex due to the weight issues..
I have posted the latest update.. I pulled my first foam latex skin out.. It was an epic fail. I will bake another one today.

Foam latex is a tricky animal.. This was the first run of foam in a new mold, so there can be residual moisture in the mold that can cause collapse of the foam latex..
Also, this particular foam run took quite a while to gel - so there was collapse due to that..
To fix the problem, I will increase the amount of gelling agent. I will also run a much denser foam on the next run..
I will hopefully have a nice foam latex skin to show you all in the next couple of days!

It looks like the src's for your images on the days before your latest entry got messed up when you added the Day 18 entry.  The images are no longer showing for the earlier days.  Also the Home link is broken at the bottom. Looks like it needs to point to index.html instead of home.html.
