Sculptor Needed to help me!! Posted by LJ on May 26, 2011
HELP PLEASE!! My son and future daughter-in-law would like to have a miniature version of their puppets for the cake topper at their wedding. They were thinking having it look like two arms coming out of the cake with the puppets on the arm (instead of just the mini half-bodied puppets sitting on top of the cake because some people may wonder why their are no legs, but if the arms are holding the puppets it is obvious) I have attached two pictures and am wondering if anyone out there in P&S land would be able to tackle this job for me. If so, what kind of price are you thinking etc. Please contact me! (The wedding is September 17)

My daughter does cakes, so I am sort of familiar with that business. I would try to find someone good in Fondant to make the these. That way they are lightweight, can be made to look exactly like the puppets and can be saved as well.

This looks like a great option. http://www.etsy.com/shop/EnchantedYou54449?ref=seller_info If you don't like her work go to www.etsy.com and type in clay. I came up with a lot of good stuff.

I spoke with a lady about a fondant cake topper she has in her shop. It is a sewing basket with all the supplies. We wanted to make one for my mother in laws birthday. She told me she had had it there for years.
I have not tried this, but have heard you can spray it with shellac once it hardens.
Clay is another option,

I thought I would show you what I ended up with. I was contacted by Donnagalea - a new person on the forum - and she offered to sculpt it for us! This is what she did - it is fabulous don't you think!!
