Greetings from Scotland Posted by TwistAndShoutBalloons on May 26, 2011
Hello puppeteers,
my name is Travis and as you might have guessed from the subject line...I'm in Scotland in the UK. I'm a children's entertainer who got started with balloons and face paints, moved up to themed birthday parties and now branched again into Puppets... Once I get good enough of course. I just bought my first puppet the other day from an ebay site, he's kinda cool and I've named him Stephen...Why a fuzzy orange monster puppet would be called Stephen I'll never know, but the name fits. He's 55cm or 1'9" and didn't cost over much. My goal is to get an human arm puppet for the shows as they have a bit more personality but having trouble finding one I like...Any ideas please let me know though and please, if you have any questions at all, let me know.

Welcome Travis.     Maybe someone here who lives in the UK will help you with that human arm puppet!

I hope so, really wanna get a monster on like Stephen. Where in TX are you? I was in the US army stationed at Fort Hood near Killeen for a couple of years.

Outstanding. Speaking of the human arm puppet I found a wonderful set of video instractions on TVLesson.com on making exactly what I'm after! Now I just have to give it a go. All I need is materials, hot glue gun and my mother in laws sewing machine. It's a bit easier looking then I expected.

I am, looking for some teddy cloth faux fur or shag fur to make the puppet out of. Ebay is my hero.

Hey Travis! Glad you joined and introduced yourself.  I did reply to the contact you sent me. I hope you got it.   There are a lot of great builders here. Check out the Galleries when you have time and if you see someone's work you like give them a holler.

I did get your reply Shawn and thank you very much. I been enjoying the site and the information on it. As I was stating though, I found a nice online video tutorial for a human hand/arm puppet monster that I want to try. If I make a pigs ear of it though I will definately check the galleries and see if someone has something that will work. But if I make a decent one, then I'll try again and see if I can't polish the design. But watch this space yeah? LOL
