Zombie puppet movie - getting started! Posted by KeithAllison on May 27, 2011
just wanted to let everyone know about the feature length puppet movie that I'm putting together. It's called Night of the Living Dead Puppets. The movie is about a group of small town friends that suddenly find themselves at the epicenter of a zombie uprising that will force them to rise to the occasion and become the heroes they never imagined they could be.
I've been learning about puppet building for 5 or 6 years and have built hundreds of prototype zombie puppets. The project was accepted at kickstarter and I'll be raising funding there as well as providing some great rewards!
The movie will feature about 100 zombie puppets and 10-15 "living" puppets. If funding goes through, I'm going to be looking for a builder for the main puppets as well as some puppeteers (or aspiring puppeteers)from Michigan to help bringing the main characters to life. I have some great ideas for this movie and I hope the funding goes through so I can make this happen and give others in the puppetry field a chance to get their work on camera as well.
If you're interested in lending a hand, giving some feedback, buying a shirt, tossing some words of encouragement or just want to read the blog posts or Facebook info, here is how you can do it:
"Like" the movie on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Night-of-the-Living-Dead-Puppets/185189648200651

I will post the link to the kickstarter project page when it's up and running!
Thanks for your time!

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff Keith.................. Good Luck, can't wait to see it in action. Check out our own Sonny from Sonny's puppets. He makes some good zombie puppets.

Sonnyvegas has some great puppets for sure. I've noticed in the last couple years that there are some incredible puppets being designed and built. I think it has a lot to do with forums like this and people helping teach others and share their knowldege with budding builders and puppeteers.

Cool stuff. I posted it to my husbands pinwall since he's a total Romero fan.

Zombie Puppets are so fun to make. Get yourself some liquid latex. You can cover a fleece puppet with latex for a neato realistic skin... Make all the scabs using colored latex on a cookie sheet, let em' dry, then after a latex covered head, drys apply them randomly all over.

Hey Sonny... Checked out your work and the puppets look awesome! In my research, I've used latex... and though it works well, for the 75-100 zombies I need to build, the costs are too prohibitive. I've found some great alterantives that I'll share once the movie is finished.

Hey Aaron, I'm in Macomb. I see you're in Belmont. I have no idea where that is!
