attaching a drawing to cloth Posted by titere on May 31, 2011
Well, hello again! Here all of you are so unbelievable creative, that I always get the answer to my projects challenges. If I make a decorative trim drawing, and I want it to attach it on clothing, lets say to a bottom of a puppet shirt, how is the best way? I want it to last loooong... is better to hand paint it, or is a way to transfer the drawing? Thanks a lot...

I've seen a programmable stiching machine once- you could draw something and scan it and feed the stiching computer. Good thing would be: it would last longer than the shirt and it would look good, the downside is: such machines are quite expensive. Maybe you could borrow something?

Here in the US you can buy computer paper that you print the design on then you can iron on design to the fabric. You can find it in fabric and craft stores lots of times. You might see if this Google Search: Google search gives you any on-line stores you could get it at.  There is actually a way that people print on fabric using wax paper as a backing I think also but I am not familiar with the process.

I heard of that but I am not sure about the durability.

I've tried the wax paper transfer method without much success. The way that I've done it though is to buy iron on transfer sheets that you can print on with any computer printer. Here's a link to what I'm talking about on Amazon http://amzn.com/B00006B8FS  Works very well for me! I should think you could use this if you could get a good scan of the drawing and then print it on the sheet.

And on another subject, titere I will have to message you about doing some logo work. I've seen all your wonderful work here at Puppets and Stuff and I think I may be able to benefit from your talents as well.
