Hello again everyone! Thank you for the suggestions. I ended up getting this sewing machine:

This is a Singer 1409 Promise.

Thanks to my sewing machine, I have already started sewing my puppet together:

I finished sewing the head, and the body. However, the instructions mention doing a simple whip stitch so sew some things. What exactly is a whip stitch? Is it a hand-sewing stitch?

Yes it is a hand stitch.

Nice machine and it looks like you're off to a great start!! Good luck with your hand stitching too!

Thanks everybody! So, I'm going to stop for the day. I got a lot done. I sewed the head together, I sewed the body pieces together, I sewed the arms and hands, and I whip stitched the felt mouth.

I'll update with pictures of the arm and the whip stitched mouth. I feel like I probably went too far from the edge with my whip stitch, but I'm not so sure how close I'm supposed to be.

Tomorrow I will get foam glue, a hot glue gun, stuffing, and try and complete this guy!

Singer is very popular here. That should do for quite a while!

Oh man, your first hot glue gun. THAT is a special occasion! Watch those fingers buddy!

Speaking of hot glue guns, should I get a high temp, low temp, or high/low temp glue gun?\

EDIT: Also, I was just thinking, how do I add straps or something for my fingers to the inside of the mouthplate?

If youre serious on getting a great glue gun, Dremel makes a great one with multi temp..high and low.
