Hana,
So pleased that you joined us here at Puppets and Stuff! I am really impressed with the kids in this pilot. They seem to be natural actors. In fact even though I read your overview I just assumed that they where actors. That tells me there is a director involved who knows what they are doing.

Nettlecatfish: The Making Of Posted by Shawn on Jun 15, 2011
I agree with you Rosie. The "making of" is really interesting.

It is simply amazing the amount of skills this project was able to teach or reinforce for the students. Writing skills, art, performance, direction... man the list is endless it seems. There should be a project like this in every school.
Hana mentioned that since the PandS site does not allow under 13 to join (COPPA regulations) that she would have to visit the site next time she is at the school with here account so the children could see what we posted. I am almost thinking I should re-think not accepting under 13 registrations. These kids are great!
Hana,
The video mentions that William Todd Jones is the puppeteer but I don't think it mentioned who made the puppet. Was he also the designer and builder? He has quite a resume' going: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0429471/

A very talented lady called Philippa O'Brien built Nettle. She is credited on the pilot & is one of my favourite people on the planet! I got a few pennies together and asked her to be my mentor and in turn she set about turning some odd little drawings of mine into a wonderful, exquisitely built green gent! Todd, also now a good friend performed Nettle for us..and brought a live-action charisma I had only before hankered after!
Re. kids on here.. best keep it simple I think..13 is a sensible minimum age to me... I think adults will share useful puppet related info if it is useful in creative terms.. but yep Shawn you're right.. quite the drive and talent for youngies our side!
I've really enjoyed looking about here today.. you are all doing such wonderful things. I am especially drawn to Bronwyn's little felt feet!
Forgive me..it is term time.. I may not be around regularly.. but shall definitely be checking in again.
Thanks for having me.

Not funny Billy!
Sorry Rosie I did not mean it to sound sarcastic (guess it did) I've heard of wild greens used in soups but have never tried them.

I loved it! The character, the design, the story. Reminds me of the good ol stuff Henson's studio was pumping out in the 80's.
