Hi Jackofspade.. I'm new here and can't seem to find a background on why you're building already known characters? What do you use them for? Are you on commission by the owners? I've looked about trying to find out.. I've seen your magician's site.. but can't work it out! GREAT homage.. but with such obvious building talent I'm wondering why you aren't doing your own characters..I'm curious? (And please understand not trying to be rude!) Perhaps they are yours.. and you are part of Team Henson.. if so.. ello..it's an honour... I'm...we're ALL massive fans!

Hana, people generally make muppets/Sesame St characters for fun or as a way to develop their skills by learning from the 'master'. There is controversy over whether or not this is actually legal, since by definition it breaks copyright; more often than not replicas as a 'hobby' and not for profit are deemed to be ok (or at least not actively pursued by the copyright owners) The above will hopefully explain a bit about replicas - you certainly won't find legal replicas of the actual puppets for sale (unless you count poseable toys or people who get sued by Disney for doing it).

I could be wrong, but also most people who do post pics of replicas they've made are not working for Henson, mainly because their work would be owned by Disney and I'm sure they would have policies about sharing that stuff.

No probs - the great thing about this site is that questions are welcomed, and answers are happily given! Only way to learn is to ask

Yeah I just do it as a fan, for fun. Its like starwars fans when they go to the movies dressed up in costumes. I have made a bunch of my own puppets too. they are defiantly inspired my the muppets and have a muppet look to them.
