Giant Marionette in Winnipeg! Posted by Abdolos on Jun 30, 2011
There's a great place in Winnipeg called Art City that offers year-round arts programming to the inner city community.  I got some work there designing and helping to build a giant marionette for their yearly parade.  Here are the pictures:

Now don't you wish you lived here?

Great guy!I had to search for videos, but I didn't find some on the internet.
I really love it when the giant marionette hugs that man.

I'm sure that there's some video footage out there, but I haven't gotten it yet.  I'll post it when I get it.

The limbs and head of the marionette are carved from styrofoam and coated with papier mache.  The torso is built out of cardboard strips built up on a mailing tube, and is also coated with papier mache.

You got it, Shawn, I'm the guy in the hat!

Great what can be done with those materials! So it is good you didn't have a storm, so lightweight a puppet would have been blown to Montreal?
