Na, I think you are right, this should be the glow-in-the dark, they have that in our hobbyshop here. But if it is a larger strukture FIMO seems a bit expensive, cloth or paper mache would be cheaper. On the other hand: FIMO is great to form, keeps it well and can get wet definitly cool for detail work.

That's true: it's certainly expensive here with the average cost about $12 USD per pack. If you want more than one colour, or want to mix colours, you end up spending a lot. But then, I'm sure there are eBay sellers out there who would offer up a better deal.

The only thing I've made so far from my Fimo is an orange cane (my first attempt at one too) and used translucent clay for the innards. It came out quite well, so I'd imagine for glow-in-the-dark it would be very impressive.

I do think so, effects should be more expensive. Puppen is cheaper, here I can get it for 8,-€ 500g (+shipping). I havn't bought any normal FIMO for some time, but 12,-$ is hard (for how much? 100g?). Here they are around 3-4,-€, I guess 6-8,-$.

EDIT: I don't see the glow in the dark ones at the site above, maybe it's not that brand that I'm thinking of, but I was sure I've seen it before somewhere... Maybe it's the 'nightglow' one listed on Fimo.

You may be thinking of sculpey. They have a glow in the dark line of polymer clays.

Could be. I don't use clay a lot, so I tend not to notice brands too much. (Also, suprisingly, good clays are hard to find here. Like most other craft materials and tools.)

I used to use them all the time. In high school I took a jewelry class and learned all about bead and pendent making. It is really fun stuff and it is also good for making custom fishing lures if you are into that kind of stuff.

I also found Fimo Liquid Decorating Gel on another site and also "Kato Liquid Medium" - anyone worked with that at all?

I've used the liquid sculpey. It's basically like a coloured glue (only not really all that sticky). Fimo and liquid sculpey are used in a lot of miniature food creations, like this guy:

If you have a look at any of his sweet foods (cookies, cupcakes, cakes, etc) you'll see the syrupy goop as a decoration. This is usually the liquid sculpey stuff, just with a little colouring added. (See the cake below: . The white icing is probably liquid sculpey with some white pastel shavings - ie. crayons - mixed in to give it the white colour) I have a few bookmarked videos of how to use it if you're interested.

Haven't tried the others....

EDITED TO ADD: Shay Aaron, linked above, has some AMAZING work using clay to make miniature foods, etc. He also includes some visual explanations of how to make canes of food (ie. oranges, eggplants, etc) for anyone interested. I subscribe to his Flickr account and bookmark a lot of his images for reference, as he gets the texture of foods pretty spot on. His ham in sandwiches for instance - hard to believe it's clay and not something readily edible.
