Update on My First Marionette Posted by kyledixondesigns on Jul 16, 2011
Hey there everyone! It's been a while since I posted an update on my Marie Antoinette marionette, so here are some pictures. Progress has been slow. I stopped working on her for a while while I was designing several other shows. Those ended, and now I'm working on her again. Over the last few days, I managed to get her face, hands, and upper torso painted, get a powdered wig on her,and start work stitching her dress. So...here you go!

I love it! Really like the paint job on her eyes. Also really like the powdered wig. Is it yarn or crepe hair or am I way off with both?

Have to agree with Shawn............. Love the eyes. She is shaping right up.

I also love the lips, the way they curl and the beauty spot. She is marvellous. She seems highbrowed and naive at the same time- you must have done some researching!

Thanks for the comments, guys! Shawn, the wig is just yarn and a whole lot of hairspray.

Quick question...Since y'all brought up her eyes, do you think it's ok that I painted them closed? I tried them slightly open, but they just looked "dead". My thinking with closing them is that she looks uppity or snoody. Thoughts?

The eyes are perfect. I feel the fact they are closed adds to the character.

Looks very nice

Well, she's making progress. Here, I've sewn the dress. I haven't added any of the adornments (i.e. pears, bows, etc.), but she's getting there. The underpinnings of the dress aren't in place in this picture either, so the dress doesn't have any shape.
