Hello Posted by new 2 puppets on Jul 23, 2011
Hi everyone I am new to making puppets although I have used puppet for several years working with preschool children. This year our VBS required 6 people puppets for our program so after checking out prices I decided to try and make my own. Now I am hooked. I have made over 15 puppets and have sent 2 puppets to brazil and 2 to Romania to our missionaries. I am in love and hooked for life. I am always looking for ideas and supplies so if you have any suggestions I would love to hear about it. I am having a hard time finding patterns and fur any suggestions? Thanks

Thats exactly how I started. And I find making your own puppets is more satisfying anyway. Welcome to the site-Steve

Hello and welcome!
Can you give more specifics as to what you're trying to make? I have lists of patterns at my site, but it's hard to point you to one without knowing what kind of puppet you're after. - Someone else will be along with fur supplier suggestions, but you may want to search the forums too because I'm sure it's been mentioned before.

Welcome! I started making puppets for church too because of the cost. We have a $0 budget for the puppet team. But God has always provided and I have more puppets that I know what to do with now!

First and foremost WELCOME TO PUPPETS AND STUFF!! And welcome too to the wonderful world of puppetcraft! You've found a whole bunch of like minded folks here at P&S! As Na indicated which kind of puppets you're wanting to make will have some influence over which sites get recommended but I always recommend the great stuff at http://www.projectpuppet.com/ Great patterns and great instructional materials that will serve a builder well.
And now I need to address something Billy posted...

Re: Hello Posted by new 2 puppets on Jul 26, 2011
thanks for all the advise. The puppets I have made so far are people puppets with rod arms. I have 5 children and they want me to make them a dinosaur, snake, bear, dog and just about anything they can think of. I like to use wigs on my puppets and have been finding them at yard sales and thrift shops but i would like to find a place to purchase them. I also found a place to purchase eyes on the web but am having a hard time finding eyelashes. Thanks for the tip on material i appriciate it. Again thanks for all the advise this is a great site to learn.
