Poor Fishy Says Hi Posted by PoorFishy on Jul 28, 2011
Hey everyone.  My name is Ken Turner and I'm co-founder of Poor Fishy Films - a small, independent film company in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  I've recently taken an interest in puppetry and have built four puppets since last Christmas, each a little better than the last.

We have one short film that features my third puppet - Soggy Bottom Funhouse is a children's show from the deep south hosted by Cousin Zeke.  The YouTube link is here if you're interested in seeing it.

I look forward to exploring this site and seeing what others are doing, hopefully pick up a few tips and make some new friends and connections.

Looking forward to whatever Puppets and Stuff has in store for me.

the video is pretty hillarious! The jokes were great. I would however reccomend spending more time practicing your lip-syncing.

Thanks.  Glad you liked it.  It was actually a post-production voice over with a couple of dialogue changes, which is why the lip-synch was off.  It was better in the original but the sound quality was lousy.

Oh, I should also mention that the film was done as part of the Hamilton 24 hour film festival.  We had been given three criteria - the line "Bring the dog, I love animals.  I'm a good cook"; an unusually large paper airplane; and something in a reflection.

We had 24 hours to write, film, edit and submit a 5 minute short with those criteria in place.  That was our final piece.

well, not bad for 24 hours. How did you do in the contest?

Well, we got shown.  No awards, though. While ours was somewhat amusing and original, the winners were pretty spectacular.  Our films are all much like this one - silly and playful with a lot of witty (and not terribly profound) dialogue.   The audience at the fest was a little less 'low brow' than our material caters to.
