Yikes! Rikka I sure hope you're feeling better! I think you're a bit too critical of your own work my friend. You are a talented sculptor and your work is most certainly worthy of display here. We're all learning. It's just that some have been at it a bit longer than others so they naturally have learned more and had more time to develop their skills. You never need to be shy about sharing your work here. This is a safe place. You're among friends and colleagues who will offer help and support.

Thanks everybody! Shawn, that is the hope that keeps me going! Seriously: I was very sick as a kid, when my parents moved to our new, concrete house. After living 5 more years in concrete (until last November) I became a wreck, concerning my health. Now we live in bricks (not as great as a wooden house in Canada, but much better, I hope) and I really have a hope this will work out. Last time it took me 9 months to recover- but I was 22 then...

LJ, you are so right, it really is. Thank you, I really think I will get better soon. Last night on the couch I had my cat and my dog on my lap- very warm and comforting...

Dear Puppetainer, it got better and a little worse after that . The wheather here doesn't help- it looks pretty much like fall already. Should be better by next week, fresh air helps with everything!
I guess I just can't stand having a project lying around. The difference between what I have in my head and what is on the table is too great- that is frustrating and discouraging. And I am not used to mechanics. I still have to work on the joints to make them... disappear more... Also I want to do some more dolls. There is a fair I'd like to enter next year...

I understand what you're saying about the pictures in your head being better than whats on the table. But with each new effort the results get closer to those mind pictures. We're always learning! I know too how frustrating it is to have all the creative ideas and life makes you put them on hold. Just know that you've got a great creative adventure awaiting you! And next time I hope you make your saving throw against sickness. Sorry, my geek is showing.

Aw, my will and even reflex are much better than fortitude- I guess I save like a wizard- and as a GM I'm not that well trained in saves...
(You know, I'd really LOVE to have a table full of puppeteers crawling through a dungeon with they puppets- and put that on camera, too! Ever seen: ; ? "Everything is better with pirates!")
It isn't even that much the difference between the finished project and the picture in my mind but more the stadium in between... A bit like my mind would run around naked because the body of my idea lies before me but is not properly clothed in material yet- do I make any sense at all?

Rikka so sorry you are feeling bad. Hope you feel better soon! As for your art I think you've done an excellent job. Don't think too much about it and second guess yourself too much. I know in my case I never think my work is good enough. It never turns out the way I originally envisioned it. I often wonder if Pablo Picasso looked at his work and thought "Damn I wish I could paint like da Vinci!" In the end your work is important simply because it is an expression of something that comes from somewhere within you.  That's my opinion about art anyway.

Thanks Russell! I will try to be more patient from now on. And I'd prefer to be less off a patient... As soon as got got things going, I'll post more pics. This is so frustrating: I'm like a bag full of ideas, but coughing would ruin everything, so I get nothing done.

Hang in there Rikka! Work when you can and just keep writing down and/or sketching out all those ideas. Build up a nice stockpile of things for yourself to do as your health continues to improve. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful work!

I will try to sit down and get some storyplots drafted. Coughing doesn't mix up story- ideas the way it does hair...
But your ideas are a real coffer of gold. I'll only have to get a hang on my drawing skill (which leave quite a bit room for improvement. I'm a 3 dimensions- girl...)
