Apologies.. Cheers Billy!
No Problem! I got the idea from the foam book (making foam arms) We all share ideas around here. Sometimes they come full circle and we forget who's idea it was to start with as long as there is good results in the end it doesn't matter.

Patch work looks whimsical rather than realistic, they can see the real ones at the zoo, but yours is special. I can see a bow tie or tied bandana around that long neck with a tongue that sticks out to the side of mouth a little. I remember the giraffes were always sticking their tongues out at the zoo like they were trying to lick off peanut butter or something. A little weight sewed into the end of the tongue might make it move more. I sew in nickles or washers into my puppet hands sometimes to make them weighted. I love that it bends down to the kids level. If you let them pet the head it might be good to spray with scotch guard to keep from getting too dirty. I cover the eyes with tape before I spray on fabric.
I want to see what is on your back, is there a body too? I could see his hoofs haning over your shoulder straps like he is riding piggy back.

Snail,
I love your idea about hoofs hanging over the shoulders. The visuals are just too cute. Almost like a baby who thinks the stilt walker is it's parent.

I was looking at the photo of the noodle slices and got to thinking you might want to shave off or bevel the edges where they rub against each other so they won't restrict the movement. If you look in the curve on the photo you can see where they push against each other. I used to have some giant parade puppets that were made with a similar product and the joints of the arms, knees etc any where they would bend, were beveled somewhat.
Can't wait to see the finish giraffe. Love the idea of the legs over the shoulders also. Makes me want to build a giraffe.

I had actually thought about the legs.. I intend to cover the rucksack fully with legs over the shoulder straps and another set (the hind-legs) around the waist. Cheers guys!
Thanks for the tip julie i'll give it a go! Sandpaper the best option?

I would bevel it with a box cutter blade or scissors. I think you'd get nicer bevel on that type of foam with the box cutter. If you are covering with fabric you shouldn't need to sand it. I'll try to take a photo of what I mean.

Sorry it took so long. Busy, busy. Building a life size male puppet. Sorry off topic.
Here is what I mean about the bevel.
I realize the giraffe neck will probably bend in more ways then a elbow or knee, but beveling the edge allows the foam to curve without restriction.
