Patterns Posted by MsPuppet on Sep 06, 2011
I know from time to time someone asks about patterns. Do we have a list of what is available, and where to find it?  If not, let's post the type of pattern (a picture would be great too), where to find it and cost.

I am trying to find as many different types of patterns as possible. I have found that looking at one usually sparks something else, and I can design something really neat. Or... I do something I learned from my grandmother (she did this for clothing patterns) combine several to get a neat puppet. I have a drawer full now.

Getting ready to go out of town. When I get back I will make a list of what I have, and all the details.

This is a good idea, and it could be helpful to add a little review of what worked/didn't work with the pattern or instructions.

I am also looking for some simple puppet patterns that I can teach in a puppet making class next year.  Looking for something different, that doesn't take more than a couple hours at best.   I already teach the basic puppet that I sell on my web site, but that is about a 6 hour class (or more, depending on how many people attend).

I made a set of patterns for finger/glove/rod puppets for my book on teaching puppetry. The whole thing comes with two sets of instructions (for the same patterns), one for kids and one for older kids/adults. Depending on how many puppets per kid, it could take them less than an hour, or a few - we're talking about felt puppets with glued facial features.

This would be really useful. Not just because I provide patterns and love getting feedback - and rarely do from customers - but also because I have a huge bookmarks file of various patterns on the net and it would be nice to discuss which ones are good and why. We tend to mostly post links to patterns without necessarily discussing what it is that makes the pattern recommended.

I guess I meant to suggest that she add it to her profile information or add it her signature. Thank you for posting it.
