Another Puppet Construction Class question?
For those of you in the medium to advanced building level....if you could learn from a few folks in a "hands on", small class type setting who would that be and what would you like to learn?
I've been thinking how nice it would be to have such a learning experience.

I don't know if there is a specific person I would like to hear from but what I would like is a setting where I could see the internal workings of automated puppets and be able to ask questions. Perhaps even handle and explore the individual parts.

I'll add my vote to that.

I would like to sit in a class with some of the great marionette or ventriloquist makers and learn the mechanical aspects of things as Shawn suggested. There is so much to learn it is hard to choose.

I've been out of town (selling puppets), so am late on this one. I would agree with Shawn though (his first post). An hour is not much time and people who haven't built at all need really basic stuff. In fact, I think some super easy type puppet to demo would be a great start. No way would I go into intricate stuff (probably not even a mouth plate) in a one hour session. We've offered a several hour class while the other classes were in session. That way people truly interested can take it. Also have done one the day before the actual workshop for people who were coming and wanted to learn.

Oh bummer. I would fly over and attend, but it is the same dates as our workshop!
