Sigh... I think it's about time I tell my friend to get off the pot.

Yes. Sometimes us artistic types need a little push (or a good swift kick in the behind) to get us moving in the direction we keep thinking, wishing, dreaming, planning and talking about but never actually DOING anything about.

 

Getting off the pot it is - I have some revised ideas for how to make this work for a one-time event and if it works well I will continue with regular events.

I also have some other complementary (not COMPLiMENTARY ) ideas which I hope to have running as well.

The short of it though is thus: something special for World Puppetry Day next year   If anyone is keen on presenting something, let me know, you'll be first on the list. I have yet to work out pricing for the event, but I hope to include a small fee for those who present.

I have another question to ask:
would people be willing to spend a couple of bucks per downloadable interview? Say, as an MP3 file... ? And then perhaps if there was a compilation CD available too, probably for a little more dough...?

Thanks. I've been thinking about a couple of ideas for some additional content, and I thought that would be a possibility. My problem is that I also want to get some money out of it.

I was thinking a few of these interviews could be available for free, and the rest are pay-per. A few bucks seems reasonable, but I don't know how many people would be interested.

Mind you, I'm not talking about interviews with random puppeteers (well, maybe some), but well-known people. And I'm not talking your average newspaper interview either - with their glossy and uninspired questions - but stuff that we puppeteers are keen on talking about but rarely gets discussed. I already have in mind one interview which would discuss the issues involved in getting puppetry on TV. Not exactly your average interview...

The other reason I ask is because I know I'm kind of swinging wildly in different directions and don't need the added burden of yet another project. But on the other hand (and despite still having a lot of stuff to migrate/improve/create), School of Puppetry has lost most of its allure and I need something to keep me inspired. Puppets in Melbourne is doing most of that, but it will be a long time til I see another sale while I spend most of next year rebuilding product supply. I still think there's more to be done in terms of this interview/conference thing, which is why I keep coming back to it.
