Wire Controlled Shoulder Puppet (Griffon) Posted by LeelaRae on Sep 27, 2011
I have been working on a wire controlled shoulder puppet. I started out making a ball joint from a wooden ball and paper mache and then sculpted my griffon head onto the paper mache 'joint' portion. I ordered Sullivan RC Airplane push-rods for the controls and am patiently awaiting their arrival.

This is the back of the head on the ball joint. You can see that the head can move around the ball.

These are some images of the Griffon's head I sculpted today. I used amber beads for the eyes. And fimo for the sculpt.

Thank you! I am hoping these steps will help others, this site was one of the only resources I could find when I was researching the materials/steps I would need to take to make a shoulder puppet.

Well I asked this in your intro post before I read this but I'll ask again... What is the medium your are working in?  I really like the detail you are getting.

I am sure that others are going to benefit from the process you are going through especially since you are photographing it. Looks to me like you are on the right track.
