Dr. Who... ahh man did I miss a new episode again!  I am out of town right now so my normal shows are hard to keep up with.

Please no spoilers. Here in Aus, we get the show later than you Americans (not that much later, say a week or two). You guys have seen the last ep of the season (entitled the Wedding of River Song)?

Although I have to say, though I had high hopes for Matt Smith having seen him in another Brit show, I do miss David Tennant an awful lot. But then, I like Tennant much more in general.

Clearly I'm going to have to use Netflix to watch Dr. Who. Only watched one episode but SOOOOO many of my friends watch it that I just don't know what's going on in a lot of discussions...

I only started watching towards the end of David Tennant's role as the Doc. Nobody I know is into it, and I've not read anything about the show, so I'm basically learning as I go. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of history, but then, considering the title music always scared me as a kid, I think it's probably a good thing that I get into it at my own pace.

Sadly, every time I see the Daleks, all I can think of is "but it's a whisk and a plunger!!" Besides that, it's a nice reminder of how complicated our puppets are now compared to a few decades ago. 'Walking with Dinosaurs' compared to some of the old animatronics is kind of like the iPhone compared to the telegraph. (Incidentally, I once looked up some automata by a well-known pre-BC Greek builder, and their mechanics are surprisingly amazing and simple)

... It's late at night, stop me before I ramble on!

I'm actually catching up on a couple episodes from last year that PBS is playing now- we missed some because our antennae doesn't always pick up all the channels. (depends on the weather) I, too, enjoyed David Tennant a ton- but I'm surprised how much I've warmed up to Matt Smith in the role. I just started watching a couple years ago on the end of David Tennant's run. It would be interesting to watch some of the earlier Doctors. It's great to see some of the new puppet/animatronics mixed in with the old style stuff. (So far, my absolute favorite episode was the one with Vincent Van Gogh- they portrayed his life so perfectly, and the creature was incredible)
So fun to chat with you guys. Hoping those pictures are up on Puppet Contest soon, but I am going to try to only check once a day because I'll just drive myself nuts with it.

I hope to watch the other seasons eventually, but with so much else to do I put it on the backburner. For a while, previous seasons were available to watch on local TV show websites; unfortunately they have taken them all down since then. On the other hand, they have more recently put up all of the Thunderbird episodes, but I doubt I'll have time for that either.

Isn't it funny what conversations can be found with in a post... LOL.

I know! I think we're trying to distract ourselves while we're waiting for the contest pictures to be posted.

Yup. One week and counting. Not that we're counting...okay...yeah, we are. I refuse to count how many times a day I check the website though!

I just got a email saying they received all the entries and the judges will now start looking at the entries.... START?? I'm so impatient. I've already made another puppet to past the time and am making new clothes for my 7 foot bear puppet. I'm running out of things to do.

i received that email last Sunday, so they are probably just late getting it out to you. i'm sure you won't run out of things to do. that's funny that you are working on a 7' bear puppet- i am working on a 7' Yeti puppet!
