Puppets are the best art there is! Posted by JFP on Oct 17, 2011
Hi! My name is Kimberly. I have a background in commercial art- I used to be an illustrator for a company that made promotional jewelry. I've always had a passion for puppets, and just recently have begun building them. It's great to have a forum like this to meet, share tips and encourage other puppet enthusiasts. Thanks for being here- it'll be fun getting to know some of you better!

thanks! i really loved the way the hair turned out. it's actually mohair yarn- which i found at the craft store. fairly inexpensive ($6 skein) and i only used about 1/4 of a skein. now i have seen more of it available online- i am looking forward to trying different colors, too! here's a link so you kind of get an idea of what it is...

Welcome! And I agree that puppetry is the best art form! That is what I try to teach when I teach teachers about puppetry too!
Your Grannie Oakley is great!

Thanks a bunch! Grannie is now working on her voice and developing her character more. Still working on building her gun. I am anticipating testing her out in front of a video camera in a couple weeks. (Shawn-I think it might just be a 20 gallon hat!)
I am starting to explore what direction I want to go with puppets. I just started building this year.
This summer, I built 9 puppets and directed 2 dozen kids in a musical with puppets and people at our church. It's great to be able to use puppets as a ministry tool.
I am making a goal to build up my portfolio of puppets, in order to approach advertisting agencies in my area to get some freelance work building custom puppets.
I'm keeping my eyes, mind and heart open right now- you never know what opportunities might come up.
Great fun to get to know you all. Thanks for the encouragement- it's tremendous.
here's my Facebook site, come on over and have a look!
