New. Hello! Posted by Ugotgot on Oct 20, 2011
Hi everyone!

I'm new around here and haven't really made any puppets before (made my first about a week ago).  Before I mention anything else, thank you all!  Without even asking, I've found sooooo much info already.

I'm a film producer, and we're developing a TV pilot that uses puppets, so I need to get really familiar really quick.  I figured I'd at least try to make puppets myself before we ponied up big cash to have them made for us.

So...here I am. Thanks again for the help you didn't even know you were providing!

Oh, and you can check out my company at redlegfilms.com, if you were so inclined.

Welcome Ugotgot. Not that much time here but I did have to peek at "role initiative". Pretty cool, liked on FB, too. Did you have a look a Dead Gentlemen Productions? I especially enjoyed the puppeteering of the undead turkey (that happens if someone raises your supper) close to the end of "Dorkness Rising".

I think it is great that you are learning about puppets and what it takes to make them. Even if you decide to have an experienced puppet builder create your puppets it'll give you an insight into puppetry that can't help but to enhance your final product. Welcome to PandS!

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff........... I agree that making a puppet will help you have a better understanding on how they work. It will also help you to decide how you want them built if you decide to go that way. Can't wait to see more on the project.

Welcome! If you think just reading stuff is helpful just wait until you have an actual specific issue you need help with. This community is incredible at offering tons of useful, quick advice on all things puppet!

I only took the time to watch the film that Rikka mentioned, Role Initiative. That was AWESOME! Sorry, is my geek showing? Best of luck on your new project!
