We have a town here called "Himmelspforten" (Gates of Heaven) and they accept mail addressed to Santa or the Christkind (little Jesus is the traditional bringer of presents in the south of Germany). They have a full time postman organizing the mail for 6 weeks (he is free of regular duty) and 28 free helpers. They receive mail from all over the world and read every one, answer them, too (one time a nurse from Sri Lanka asked to marry Santa). If kids have hard times (like writing about a lost person or the like) there is a pedagoge working with the mail office.
