Female rocker puppet - Lots of firsts! Posted by Zach Burch on Dec 19, 2011
Hey, sorry about dropping of the face of the earth for a while. I started my last year of college, and I’m sorting out my schedule. Especially since I am Props Master and one of the Puppeteers in Little Shop of Horrors at my college, everything is kind of hectic.
Now, the next puppet I want to do is this female singer. In my designs, I’ve drawn her as kind of rock and roll, and then as kind of hippie-esque, and I’m trying to iron out some of her details.
The main things I’m trying to decide on are her hairstyle and her costuming. I feel like if I keep sketching her, I’ll figure out a costume I like, but it’s her hair that is bugging me. I love the way cropped, wavy hair moves (sort of like a flapper kind of haircut, but more modern), I’m just having trouble envisioning how I would go about creating it in my mind. I know there are fashion body templates for when you are designing clothing or costumes, but is there an equivalent for puppets? Like, just a basic thing to drawn costuming and hair ideas?
The last thing I want to show are some ideas I had for altering the Project Puppet pattern I already have in order to make her just a little bit more unique. Now, I am scared of altering it, since I this is only my second puppet.
I’ll keep everyone up-to-date on everything as soon as I make more decisions. Also, I will be dying Antron Fleece for the first time as well! This puppet is going to have more firsts for me than my first puppet!

Don't be a scared................ It is great to challenge yourself. My only suggestion is to make a prototype out of a cheaper fleece and make notes of any changes as you go.

Let's see one of our members made templates for the Project Puppet patterns and has them in their gallery... now who was that. I know it is someone who is active... help me out here Billy.
