So we were a little premature in thinking we only had one pick-up. Apparently we have another almost half day of reshoots to do. But the scene turned out quite well. Below are some stills from the film for those of you who are still interested.

Do you ever think to yourself "Well this project ever end?"? Then again a 1/2 day is not bad. Oh wait then there is the editing process... I'm sure you'll make it though.

Shawn, as of now I'm just hoping and praying this project will end. To be honest, I'm tired of it and I've lost all perspective. I have no idea if it's good, if it's funny... nothing. It's just a drawn out, agonizing process. As for editing, I've been doing it as we roll along, so the film is pretty much edited at this point except for the music. We have a guy who has offered to do the score, but it has to be done soon or we'll miss that opportunity. So we're hurrying as fast as we can.
Arthur - thanks so much. It's great to hear some encouraging words on this project. I can't wait to see it too. From start to finish and not as part of the editing process.
All in all it's been a very educational experience, but I don't know if I will rush out and make another feature length puppet film.

I think you are doing well. Half a day on pick-ups is wonderfully little.
I know what you mean when you say it gets drawn out and agonizing. You do tend to loose perspective just because you are so intensely involved for such a long time. I am the same with ours.
The not knowing if it is funny is ditto as well. Lots of stuff I thought funny when I wrote it seems deadly serious to me now... but others I have shown it to so far chuckle in the right places. One surprise has been that we have been accused of witchcraft because of having a wizard in the story... go figure(This person has stopped talking to me for now).
It is interesting when you have not seen what you have edited, for a while, you can see it with different eyes and you get a better perspective. Short sketches which are funny at the time, seem funny, because you don't get too much time to dwell on things.
I am sure that after a rest, a few months down the track. You will be itching to get back and do it all over again on another project.

Witchcraft, eh? Interesting what people will fixate on sometimes. I happen to be Christian, but in all honesty, witchcraft isn't something that even crossed my mind in looking at your stills and material for your project. Does that mean Star Wars is witchcraft as well?
I agree that time away helps readjust your perspective. In looking back on some of our other work I see the entertainment value, but being the only editor, I know I didn't feel that way during the process.
I think the worst thing is that I start to think about things to add after the fact - enhancements here, an insert there... and I have to question whether I'm really making it better or just unsatisfied with what we have to work with. It's very difficult.

Some people fixate on weird things. I can kind of see the tie-in, but come on... I am in a medieval reenactment group. I have told people that and twice had them "Oh i don't get into any of that evil stuff..." And they leave like I'm going to try to possess them. Really? There's a reason I have crosses on my stuff!

Well, after many long months, the film is finally in the can. We still have some voice over work to do but anything that is to be filmed has been filmed. The entire thing is edited and it runs just over one hour and seventeen minutes. Tomorrow I take a copy to our friend who is a professional musician. He will compose some music cues for us, which I'm very much looking forward to. What a long journey this has been. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the final results. It'll be a great feeling when this thing is 100% complete. Almost there...
