Etsy collects information about your location via 'cookies' (same thing that makes your computer remember to log you in when you visit this site). Based on that they pick your - roughly - correct currency. Annoyingly, if I'm not logged in, they try and set mine for British pounds. I don't know why, it's not even remotely near me
