Some use air brush paint,others use acrylic paints and seal with a clear sealer. You can use acrylic paints and tint the latex a skin tone. If you can possible find Noreen Young DVD on Latex Puppets its worth the money. You can try to contact her to see if she has any left. i noticed her website says she is now director of "Puppets Up"

You can use acrylic latex paint on them if you want.  There are paints designed specifically for it though.

What is the difference between regular latex and foam latex?
how does it change the look of the puppet?

A regular latex puppet is going to look like a halloween mask. Foamed latex it kind of like your foam mattress or say a Nerf ball.

And it will continue to be so! I may be creating a puppet of a knight soon (pay attention Rikka!) and I was going to post a question about methods for creating armor. I thought I'd do a search first since so many questions I come up with have already been asked and answered here.
