Pee Wee's Playhouse: Puppet Help! Posted by lostcasket on Feb 25, 2012
Hello!

I'm new to the forum and I'd like your help to build
Mr. Window from Pee Wee's Playhouse. I'm not sure how to tackle this.
Mostly I'm unsure about the mechanics of how this puppet was created.

Do any of you have an Idea, or a solution to achieve a similar look??
Please help!!

I am not real familiar with Pee Wee's Playhouse so not sure of the action that the window did. Should be pretty simple to animate things though. It looks like the lower lip/window seal might be made of poly foam covered n fabric and then maybe an thine invisible line like fishing line connect to the bottom and pulled down to make the foam bend in the center.

At about 50sec, you see the window in action. Looks like about 4 things moving at once...
Window Sill, bottom of lower pane, whole lower Pane and Eyes.

Like Gary Sorrell mentioned everything moves..
It seems like this might be over my head alittle.

Well the eye kind of look like they are over sized googly eyes like you see in craft stores. It could be they are strung on fishing line horizontally top and bottom then those two lines could be pulled left and right to make them move from side to side.

The sash itself seems to kind of work on the same concept of a normal window. http://www.do-it-yourself-help.com/window_sash_cord_repair.html  Instead of the weights on the end of the cord you would pull each line by hand to make the window go up and down. There does seem to be some bend in the bottom of the window pane but not real sure how they managed that.

Their had to be more then one puppeteer..

As for the eyes I was thinking of something to what you said Shawn. Have the eyes pivot with some sort or ridge.. Like a marionette. But from beneath to hide the puppeteer. Also for the bottom lip a fishing line should work just fine. Its just that top lip that's confusing me. Because not only does it bend it raises up too..
