How much fleece per puppet? Posted by cjwalas on Feb 29, 2012
I'm dying my third batch of fleece, which fortunately has turned out much more even than my second attempt. I need to divide what I've got to give some to my daughter who is also attempting some puppet building. I was wondering if there was a good rule of thumb for how much fleece an average hand/rod puppet uses? I mean a human size head with arms maybe a foot long each and the body, maybe another foot? Anybody have any ideas on this? I know I'll learn it on my own after a few puppets, but I need to do some parting out tomorrow so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Most patterns I've used suggest 1/2 to 3/4 yards. When dying fabric I like to designate a full yard in case I mess up on something or I need to make a alteration or repair.

Thanks, Billy. I was thinking about a yard per, exactly for the same reason.
